Learn the lessons of history or be doomed to repeat the mistakes
Last night, Monday – Mar. 8th, I could not get to sleep so I decided to watch an old movie on TCM. The movie was called “Confessions of a Nazi Spy”. As the story unfolded, I could not believe how it matched up to what is happening in the world today. All one had to do was substitute the word’ Islam’ for every reference to ‘Nazi’ or ‘Germany’, and it became a present day narrative. The similarity to today was unbelievably close. I would encourage everyone to take a look at this flick if you have the time. You will find it eerily familiar for a movie made in 1939.
In the movie, the ‘enemy within’ (the American Nazi leader in New York) preaches that no German in America should put the American constitution above their loyalty to the fatherland. And that the American democracy must be destroyed so that loyal German-American citizens can save Americans from themselves.
Also note that the review below says that this was the first movie of its kind. After this one was so successful, other Hollywood studios began work on similar productions of their own. Edward G. Robinson received death threats (so said the gentleman who introduced the movie) as did many other of the workers involved in the film.
Isn’t it sad that there are no courageous movie makers in this generation who will produce a movie that exposes the truth of the threat we face today. It would be so easy with so much evidence presenting itself every day. But the Politically correct climate is almost in total control of the mainstream media as well as the popular culture.
Please, if you get a chance, take a look at this movie.

SYNOPSIS: In the wake of a trial that convicted four Nazi agents of spying against the U.S., Warner Bros. became the first Hollywood studio to fire a salvo at Hitler’s Germany. Months before World War II erupted it released this thriller based on revelations that emerged from the trial and other real-life sources. The story is a brisk connect-the-dots tale that ties German-American Bund operatives (Francis Lederer, George Sanders and Paul Lukas among others) to Berlin. Chief among those connecting the dots: FBI Agent Edward Renard (Edward G. Robinson). The drama wasn’t limited to the screen. Production personnel received threats and violence erupted at some screenings. |
